1. What is air freight?

Air transportation refers to a mode of transportation that uses airplanes or other aircraft as carriers. Also called air freight, generally speaking, the goods are in urgent need. When road transportation cannot meet the time limit required by the customer, the customer will choose air transportation. Air transportation is fast and safe. Punctuality and high efficiency have won a considerable market, greatly shortened delivery time, and greatly promoted the flow of funds in the logistics supply chain.

2. What are the methods of air transportation?

Specific operating models of high-standard air transport include:

charter transportation and centralized consignment. Air express, etc.

A flight refers to an aircraft that takes off at a designated time, sets a route, and sets the departure station, route station, and destination station. Its biggest feature is that it can accurately grasp the departure and arrival times.

2. 1 Charter transportation means that an airline or a charter company leases the entire aircraft or part of the space to the charterer according to the conditions and rates agreed in advance with the charterer, and then transports it from one or more airlines to the designated destination.charter flights cost less than flights but offer a smaller scope of activities.

2.2Concentrated consignment means that the air freight forwarder divides several batches of scattered goods into a whole batch and then delivers them to the airline. Fill out a master waybill and send it to the same arrival station, and then the air freight forwarder will entrust the local agent to receive the goods and separate them and send them to the actual consignee. The biggest feature of this method is that it can achieve lower freight rates than sporadic consignments and reduce the complexity of shippers handling consignments themselves.

2.3 Air express is air emergency. This method is particularly suitable for the rapid transportation of urgently needed items, medical equipment, valuables, drawings, key components, samples, documents and other small items, meeting the needs of the rapid development of modern society.

3. Air cargo packaging requirements

The packaging of goods shall ensure that the goods will not be damaged, lost, or leaked during transportation, and will not damage or contaminate aircraft equipment or other items.

The shipper shall use appropriate inner and outer packaging materials and packaging forms and package them properly according to the nature and weight of the goods, transportation environmental conditions and the requirements of the carrier. Goods that are delicate, fragile, afraid of shock, pressure, and cannot be turned upside down must have appropriate packaging measures to prevent damage to the goods.

It is strictly prohibited to use straw bags or straw ropes. Items prohibited or restricted from transport, dangerous goods, valuables, confidential documents and information, etc. are not allowed to be included in the cargo packaging.

Microbial products such as bacterial strains and bacterial culture media that are harmful to humans, animals and plants are not allowed to be transported without special approval from the Civil Aviation Administration of China. All biological products such as vaccines, vaccines, antibiotics, serum, etc. that have been artificially manufactured, refined, and processed aseptically can be transported as general cargo if the shipper provides a sterility and non-toxic certificate. Microorganisms and harmful biological products should be stored and transported away from food.

The transportation of plants and plant products must be accompanied by a valid “phytosanitary certificate” issued by the plant quarantine department at or above the county level (inclusive) where the shipper is located.

4. Eight elements of air freight inquiry

Product name (whether it is dangerous goods)

Weight (charges involved), volume (size and whether the goods are packed)

Packaging (whether wooden box, pallet or not)

Destination airport (basic or not)

Time required (non-stop or transfer)

Requested flights (service and price differences among each flight)

Type of bill of lading (main bill and sub-bill)
