Vietnam customs import requirements

(1) Imported telephones/modems, radio/phone equipment and parts, telecommunications equipment, communication equipment, radar equipment, transmitters/receivers, etc. need to meet the following requirements:
a. The radiation, safety, electromagnetic adaptability and other indicators of the equipment need to comply with Vietnam Telecom network technical standards and telecommunications equipment management and use specifications;
b. The operating frequency of the equipment complies with the national frequency management and use specifications and future plans;
c. Printing all-in-one machines require an import license from the Ministry of Information and Communications;
(2) Imported cotton, cloth and samples, textiles and samples, textile finished products and other products need to meet the following requirements:
In addition to the following categories, other textile products and clothing imported into Vietnam are subject to formaldehyde and aromatic amine testing:
1) Products belonging to HS code 5902, 5910, 5911, 5807, 5907, 6210, 630532, 6306, 63079010;
2) For samples or exhibit items, a single piece cannot exceed 25 meters and no more than two samples of each type are allowed;
3) Special items holding an import license from the Ministry of Health, Ministry of National Defense, Ministry of Public Security or Ministry of Transport;
4) Transit or bonded products.

(3) Things to note when sending personal items to Vietnam:
Old/used items are allowed to be imported to individuals, and the recipient must be able to provide proof of entry within 30 days of the shipment’s import date, and a ** copy is required. Customers sending personal belongings must fill out the “Unaccompanied Baggage Declaration Form” when entering the country. Failure to fill in the declaration form will result in the shipment being returned. No customs duties will be incurred if the declared value is less than US$460.
